Value creation in construction projects

The senior and doctoral project aims to map and analyze key factors that contribute to value creation in construction and infrastructure projects. The project's overall goal is to develop a scientific framework and explanatory model that can promote a deeper understanding of productivity within the industry.
Productivity in construction shows significant variation, where several factors are considered crucial to the success of projects. Among these factors, the industry's fragmentation, project size, complexity, and sometimes conflicting requirements are highlighted as central challenges. Additionally, unique project conditions, such as geographical location, client requirements, and production planning, play a significant role.
The purpose of the research project is to map and explain the connections between key factors that impact productivity, efficiency, and value creation in construction and infrastructure projects. The project will gain access to large amounts of data, which will be used for a structured analysis of factors that drive and hinder value creation in construction projects. By collecting, processing, and analyzing large amounts of data, the project aims to identify patterns and relationships for the factors that affect project outcomes. This data-driven approach can contribute to developing evidence-based strategies to improve productivity and efficiency in construction projects.
The research project, initiated and funded by NCC, is conducted by two senior researchers and a doctoral student from LTU.
