Circular business models – a case study of the infrastructure sector
The transition towards a circular economy requires new ways of organizing infrastructure projects and creating value. This project aims to investigate how business models and procurement arrangements can support the implementation and scaling of circular and climate-oriented solutions.
The research focuses on infrastructure projects involving measures such as material reuse, resource-efficient logistics, material substitution, and electrification of construction equipment. Through interviews, document studies, and workshops, the project explores how clients and contractors can collaborate to make these initiatives both feasible and commercially attractive.
The results will contribute new knowledge about how circular solutions can move from isolated pilot projects to established industry practice, while maintaining competitiveness and project performance.
