ISSUES - Information Security and digital Services for sUstainablE designS
The project intends to shed light on digital trust from the perspective of both developers and users, i.e. companies/organizations but also consumers. Digital trust is identified as an important societal issue. Confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA triad Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) as well as established standards (e.g. ISO 27000) can guide developers. However, the issue of trust in relation to the use phase should be clarified. The project's intended stakeholders will consist of researchers from universities and institutes, public authorities and product and service developing companies.
The collaboration between Luleå University of Technology and Centria University of Applied Sciences in Finland aims to develop support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to expand operations towards international markets. Digitization is seen as the basis for sustainable development, for example through more digital services. With these also comes increased risk of cyber attacks, intrusions and threats, so it is important to include information security in digitalization. Shortcomings in information security and service innovation in companies and organizations are the problem that the project takes as its starting point. The project contributes to a better understanding of the threats posed by digitization, but also with insight into what companies themselves can do to improve awareness of security in the context of digitization. The project's activities are carried out together with companies and organizations, including collaborations that include students in the form of degree projects and course projects. Results from the project are disseminated, among other things, via the popular science event CyberNorth.
The main project aims to contribute to MSMF's capacity to internationalize and grow through information-secure digital services. The activities in the research-oriented project aim to develop, in collaboration with the target groups, a better understanding of the threat from cyber criminals and what organizational measures can be implemented both in the early development of services and afterwards. The activities should lead to insights into the strengths and weaknesses of one's own organization in the development of digital services, and that the project's results inspire and come to practical use in the form of improved strategies and activity plans that prioritize information security.
