GENGREEN
Strengthening Nordic green female entrepreneurship and innovation through education
This project is focused on providing training, mentoring, and networking opportunities to entrepreneurs in the Nordic region. The goal is to help entrepreneurs – and prospective entrepreneurs – to develop the skills and knowledge they need to promote sustainable economic growth and environmental sustainability while they also succeed in their businesses.
Figure 1: Project’s Impact Roadmap
As EU Interreg Aurora co-finances GENGREEN, the northernmost parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway are in focus and due to the underrepresentation of women among business owners, specific attention is paid to women’s entrepreneurship.
The project coordinator and initiator behind GENGREEN is the University of Helsinki Ruralia Institute. A driver for UH Ruralia to initiate lead the project is the idea to create a joint cross border training programme, in accordance with the GENGREEN principles. In all seven EU partners (Finland + Sweden) and two Norwegian partners participate in GENGREEN.
Swedish partner is the research subject Design at Luleå University of Technology. The knowledge and know-how we can offer includes the exploration of past, present and future design situations as tool for both product and service design, and also insights into the use of design methods as part of business model development. Last but not least, a motive for the LTU Design unit to participate in this cross-border initiative is the win-win situation. Through the partnership, we make sure to be part of a contemporary discourse and coordinated actions in our Nordic region.
