Hosting capacity for transmission grids with flexibility solutions
This project is about transmission networks (130 kV and above) and about their limitations when hosting new consumption and production. The aim is to remove those limitations, using flexibility solutions, without the long lead times involved in building new transmission lines, and to describe the limitations with such smart solutions. An important driver throughout the project is being able to quantify the opportunities and limitations of different solutions in a transparent way and being able to communicate these to the various stakeholders. The hosting capacity method, which has been developed for distribution networks, will be further developed and applied to flexible transmission networks. A realistic example network will be created, with three different flexibility solutions (dynamic load rating, operational risk assessment, and flexibility markets) to illustrate the method. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with three Swedish transmission network operators.
