Sustainable and energy efficient energy communities (SEEC)

The SEEC project (Sustainable Energy-Efficient Energy Communities) strengthens regional resilience and supports the green transition through decentralized, energy-efficient community solutions in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions.
Through strong cross-border collaboration between higher education institutions and energy experts from Finland, Sweden, and Norway, the project builds models for sustainable, replicable, and inclusive energy communities. The solutions include microgrids, smart energy systems, and decentralized organizational models based on local needs.
Together with local actors and municipalities, the project pilots and tests technologies and organizational models that support a fair and citizen-driven energy transition. The activities contribute to the goals of the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by improving energy efficiency, increasing the use of renewables, and strengthening local self-sufficiency and equality in energy access.
The project is funded by Interreg Aurora and regional co-financiers in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
