Sustainable Finance Lab – Research for a Sustainable Financial Market
The Sustainable Finance Lab is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to developing new knowledge about how the financial market can contribute to a sustainable transition
The financial market plays a crucial role in the transition to a socially and environmentally sustainable society. Despite growing interest in sustainable investing, capital flows are still guided by models and norms that do not fully take into account long-term climate and environmental impacts or social consequences. Inadequate measurement methods, short-term risk assessments, and established notions of what is financially relevant hinder more far-reaching change.
The Sustainable Finance Lab is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to developing new knowledge on how the financial market can contribute to a sustainable transition. The research focuses on measuring the actual impact of investments, developing new ways to assess risks and opportunities, and understanding how norms, governance, and policy influence financial decisions.
The goal is to translate scientific knowledge into practical methods, tools, and decision-making resources that strengthen the financial sector’s ability to reduce negative impacts while financing solutions that create social and environmental benefits. In the longer term, this initiative will contribute to a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable financial market.
