The overall goal of the project is to develop technology for automatic quality assurance and process feedback directly in the production flow, enabling geometry verification of all manufactured parts without the need for sample checks or separate measuring rooms.
The project is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, Luleå University of Technology, and six industrial partners. The quantitative objectives of the project are:
- Increase the number of verified parts by a factor of 100.
- Reduce the need for adjustment and scrapping of relevant parts by 10%.
- Develop a system that can measure and analyze parts in a cold or hot forming process with a frequency of 0.5 Hz.
Project partners: (University/College) Chalmers University of Technology and Luleå University of Technology, (System Development) Viospatia AB and RD&T Technology AB, (Automotive Industry) Volvo Car Group, Gestamp Hardtech AB, Volvo Group Trucks Operations and Harriet Lidhs Tooling AB.
The measurement technique is based on a combination of photogrammetry and simulation techniques, complemented by algorithms to analyze geometric deviations and relate them to relevant process parameters. The project resulted in the development of a solution that can verify the geometry in-line in press lines and robotic handling with real-time analysis.
