EU-CoWork: Co-Creating Compassionate Workplaces

EU-CoWork is a Horizon Europe-funded research project that explores how workplaces can better support employees navigating difficult life events and circumstances, including serious illness, caregiving, dying, grief, and loss.

Many people will experience one or more of these situations during their working lives. Their impact is felt not only by the individuals directly involved, but also by colleagues, workplace relationships, and the organisation as a whole.

In collaboration with workplaces in Sweden, Belgium, Greece, and Austria, the project is co-creating and evaluating context-sensitive Compassionate Workplace Programmes designed to promote employees’ health and well-being. In northern Sweden, researchers, employees, and a facilitator are working together at three participating workplaces to identify existing strengths and needs and to develop initiatives suited to each workplace’s particular context and conditions, while also responding to broader societal challenges.
