FutureFilm North
The research examines the structural conditions and experiences that shape people’s willingness and ability to establish themselves in, develop within, and remain in the film industry and in the county over time.
FutureFilm North is a collaborative project (2026–2029) led by the Center for Distance-Bridging Technology (CDT) in partnership with Filmpool Nord. The main funders are the European Regional Development Fund (Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth), Region Norrbotten, the Längmanska Entrepreneurship Fund, Luleå University of Technology, and Filmpool Nord.
The aim is to create conditions for broader business models, strengthened competitiveness, and increased regional appeal through targeted initiatives for companies, open meeting places for the industry, and the CaseLAB innovation format. In parallel, a research-based work package is being carried out to deepen understanding of working conditions and the skills supply in the film industry.
This research-based work package is being carried out by Klara Rydström, a postdoctoral researcher in human work science. The research examines the structural conditions and experiences that shape people’s willingness and ability to establish themselves in, develop within, and remain in the film industry and in the county over time. A gender perspective is used to understand whether and how such conditions and experiences relate to gender.
