New Head of Subject for Information Systems
Ahmed Elragal is the new Head of Subject at Information Systems (IS). Having served as Chaired Professor earlier in his career, and having worked as the temporary Head of Information Systems he brings loads of experience and expertise.
– Although the role as Head of Subject at IS is familiar to me it brings about new opportunities to develop the subject as well as new challenges to address, Ahmed Elragal, Head of Subject, says.
Information System at Luleå University of Technology is a subject which has always conducted quality research and have worked closely with the industry. This quality will not deteriorate but instead will be developed to meet the labour market needs.
– At Information Systems focus on three sub-areas, digitalisation, information security and data and decision science. These three research areas are relevant and timely in contemporary society and therefore we will continue to investigate them through social and technical lenses, he says.
Ahmed Elragal has served as the Chaired Professor previously in his academic career. However, no matter how similar these roles have been every organisation is unique in terms of the opportunities that exists and the challenges that must be addressed. One of these relatively new challenges is regarding the education.
– We encounter continuously evolving challenges, one of them is to conduct relevant and rigorous multidisciplinary research. And the other one regards the changing nature of how we educate students online but also on campus, Ahmed Elragal says.
