DigiBy
DigiBy stands for Digital Services in Villages and is about digitizing service in Norrbotten's countryside.
DigiBy is conducting pilot tests of new digital solutions to increase the knowledge and application of digitalisation opportunities for service development in villages. The project will develop new methods for using existing technology and the service will be adapted to the conditions in the villages.
Purpose
The purpose of the project is, in a broad collaboration between the Norrbotten Region, all the municipalities of Norrbotten and Luleå University of Technology, to conduct pilot tests to increase the knowledge and application of digitalisation opportunities for service development in sparse and rural areas.
Goal
The project seeks to create knowledge and conditions for establishing service points where traditional and digital services and digital communication solutions for coordination and communication are offered in order to increase access to service and enable both life and work in sparsely populated areas.
Pilots
Information screens
We are evaluating a solution to be able to easily distributed information from the project, villages, municipalities and others to eachother. This includes a large computer screen with associated equipment. We have now installed three screens (in Soutujärvi, Morjärv and Kalix) and are now planning for two more installations ( in Niemisel and Gunnarsbyn).
Digital store
Together with the store in Soutujärvi, we are investigating a solution with both electronic locks and digital payments, which means that you can also shop outside regular opening hours.
Digital delivery boxes
In order to offer opportunities for delivery of packages and goods outside the regular opening hours of the stores, we are planning a pilot for delivery boxes with code locks that you can open around the clock.
IT Bus
This is a collaboration with the Library on providing IT support via the book buses. Piteå will be the first to include IT support and advice in its regular book bus operations. We are actively working to develop a basic range of services. We also have a dialogue with Haparanda about a similar arrangement.
Coordinated transport
Here we have a dialogue with some projects and plan to do joint tests with them later in the project. The project Predictive Movement aims to establish a competition-neutral digital platform for coordinated parcel, letter and passenger transport in sparse areas.
Digital newspaper
This is a collaboration with Norrbotten Media to replace the paper magazine with a digital variant. In DigiBy, we study specifically how the digital solution affects us and what lessons can be learned from this.
The project owner is Luleå University of Technology and the pilot tests will be carried out in collaboration with municipalities and regional players such as Region Norrbotten.
