Organized a seminar on fossil-free steel and industrial cooperation
A seminar within work package 1 of the FINAST project (Research and Innovation in Norrbotten for Advanced Green Steel Production and Manufacturing) was held on October 24 at Luleå University of Technology. During the day, SSAB presented its new fossil-free Zero steel and discussed its applications with examples from customers who have already started using the material in their processes. The seminar attracted one participant, both on site and digitally.
The seminar agenda included an introduction to FINAST and presentations from SSAB on their new fossil-free steel alloys, followed by examples of application opportunities. In addition, Luleå University of Technology presented opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry, with concrete examples of how collaboration can lead to technology development and skills enhancement.
After lunch, a tour of LTU's laboratories followed, where researchers presented ongoing projects in areas such as solid mechanics, machine elements and materials technology.
The seminar marks another step in the work of developing sustainable solutions for the steel industry in northern Sweden.
