Green transition lecture by SSAB​

The FINAST PhD Student Network co-organized a webinar with the Jernkontoret Steel Academy PhD Network on April 8th, 2026, focusing on the green transition in Swedish steelmaking. ​

The webinar featured Jacob Sandberg, Vice President and CTO of SSAB Special Steels, who shared perspectives on SSAB’s transition towards fossil-free steel production, with a particular emphasis on the ongoing transformation in SSAB Oxelösund. The session helped PhD students appreciate the broader context of the steel industry’s transition to green steelmaking and better understand the relevance of their own research to this transformation. PhD students from Swedish universities and the University of Oulu actively participated in the lively discussions throughout the session.
