At the CHS² 2026 international conference (International Conference on Hot Sheet Metal Forming of High-Performance Steel) in Plzeň, Czech Republic, Patricio Andrés Piantanida presented the paper “Surface Engineering of PHS1500 Steel by UNSM Treatment.”
Patricio Piantanida presented FINAST research at CHS² 2026
The presentation discussed how Ultrasonic Nanocrystal Surface Modification (UNSM) can be used to improve the surface properties of PHS1500 steel. The method creates a nanostructured surface with compressive residual stresses, which can increase the material’s hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength. This work contributes to the FINAST project’s goal of developing sustainable and high-performance steel solutions for the demanding applications of the future.
