AI-Augmented Formative Feedback: Designing Scalable and Inclusive Assessment
Generative AI is rapidly transforming higher education, creating both opportunities and challenges for assessment and feedback. This workshop introduces participants to AI-augmented formative assessment using the Draft-Based Iterative Feedback Accelerator, a human-in-the-loop framework that integrates natural language processing and explainable AI to support iterative, draft-based feedback. Participants will explore how AI can enhance, not replace, instructor expertise, reduce feedback workload, and promote authentic student learning. The workshop combines pedagogical principles with practical demonstrations, offering strategies for designing scalable, inclusive, and AI-supported feedback practices that foster reflection, revision, and self-regulated learning in higher education.
