Fundamentals of breakage and fracture in comminution and its relation to ore properties

In this project we aim to gain a better understanding of the ores and rocks behaviour as they go through comminution and what properties determine the rock breakage mode and the liberation of the ore minerals. For this, advanced characterisation methods, like micro-X-ray fluorescence (µ-XRF) and automated mineralogy SEM-EDS (QEMSCAN), in combination with non-destructive characterisation methods, like acoustic emission (AE) and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), are being used
