About nursing
The research subject nursing is based on the concepts of the person, health, environment and nursing actions. Our research and education aim to prevent and alleviate ill health, support recovery, and enable a good quality of life for individuals with long-term illness or disability, as well as to create the conditions for a dignified death.

Research and education aim to prevent and alleviate ill health, support recovery, and enable a good life in the presence of long-term illness or disability, as well as to create the conditions for a dignified death. Nature as a resource and digital solutions are integrated into the development of accessible, equitable and sustainable healthcare, with relevance in both rural and urban environments.Our research contributes knowledge on ethics, learning and team collaboration in health and social care, and advances quality, participation and sustainability in care provision. The research is conducted within three focus areas:
- Promoting health and learning throughout life
- Experiencing acute illness and injury
- Recovery-oriented psychiatric care
Nursing research at LTU is closely integrated with education at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral levels and is conducted in interdisciplinary, national and international research environments. Through collaboration with healthcare services, society and academia, we contribute to the development of the healthcare and nursing of the future.
