Doctoral students in nursing presented research at the Norrsken Conference
Johan Sparrevik and Rose-Marie Blind, doctoral students at Luleå University of Technology, presented research on ambulance care for children and end-of-life care at the Norrsken Conference in Östersund.
On 17 and 18 September, the Norrsken Conference brought together doctoral students and researchers working in clinical research. The conference is hosted in turn by Sweden’s four northernmost regions, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, Norrbotten and Jämtland Härjedalen. Since 2023, Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University and Mid Sweden University have participated in planning and delivering the conference. Its purpose is to disseminate knowledge about clinical research conducted in northern Sweden and create opportunities to exchange experiences and establish new contacts.
Johan Sparrevik, a doctoral student in nursing, presented the study When the ambulance leaves but the child stays. Ambulance nurses’ experiences of decisions not to transport children to hospital. The study explores ambulance nurses’ experiences of assessing children who remain at home following an ambulance call-out.
Rose-Marie Blind, an externally employed doctoral student at Luleå University of Technology, presented the study Relatives’ satisfaction with end-of-life care in Sweden’s four northernmost regions. A retrospective registry study. The research examines relatives’ experiences of end-of-life care and draws on registry data.
Johan Sparrevik and Rose-Marie Blind will both hold their midway review seminars in early October. The seminars will provide an opportunity to present and discuss the progress of their research projects and the next stages of their work.
