Specialist Psychiatric Care Teams – Good and close psychiatric home care?
The introduction of Specialist Psychiatric Care Teams (SPOT) is described as a step towards more person-centered and accessible psychiatric care at home. However, there is uncertainty about what SPOT entails and how effective it is.
The aim of this three-year interdisciplinary project is to analyze how SPOT functions, the values and decisions underlying its implementation, and how it affects patients, healthcare staff, care consumption, and costs. The project consists of three sub-studies: a policy analysis, a study of patient and staff experiences, and a quantitative evaluation of outcomes and cost-effectiveness. By combining qualitative and quantitative methods, the project aims to generate knowledge that can support the development of more coordinated and evidence-based psychiatric care. The project is funded by a grant from FORTE.
