Virtual reality (VR) in teaching
The VR project aims to investigate the application of technology in Swedish teaching, in this case in upper secondary school. During 2020/2021, a pilot study will be conducted with a focus on testing the application of technology.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how VR can be used to teach Swedish, what opportunities and challenges arise from using VR as a learning resource. The method used was inspired by action-based research, where teachers and researchers together, in a symmetrical and complementary approach, explore and evaluate a measure.
The results so far show that students' motivation increases through opportunities to co-construct, co-design and adapt their own learning, where students solve problems and think and reflect on their own learning.
Both students and teachers point to didactic potentials and explain that VR technology offers many opportunities. But there are also challenges. The teachers believe that there is a lack of good software and there are thus opportunities to develop new resources that are in line with the school's governing documents and subject plans.
