GAIA
AI-based tree segmentation of natural forest environments for virtual forest creation
Technological advancements, in the area of artificial intelligence and robotics, have a disruptive power to digitalize forests and to make the forest industry more efficient and sustainable.
The core idea of this project is in the application of state-of-the-art methods and technologies to develop new algorithms for efficient segmentation of individual trees in forest environments that will increase the overall classification accuracy and allow to create a virtual twin of a forest as a basis for developing an intelligent decision support system.
Duration
The GAIA project started in February 2024 and ends in January 2026.
