New Formas project "Time to re-evaluate stormwater models for increased reliability" launched
From the latest Formas call for early career researchers, Ico Broekhuizen was granted funding for the project "Time to re-evaluate stormwater models: increasing reliability through soil moisture measurements to meet new needs". The project runs from 2024 to 2027 and has a budget of SEK 4 million.
The aim of this project is to investigate how soil moisture should be considered when modeling stormwater systems. In different subprojects, the focus will be on where to measure the soil moisture, how soil moisture in stormwater facilities can be modelled in the best way, and how the information can be used in modelling catchments with a large proportion of green infrastructure. Furthermore, the project will evaluate whether it is possible to replace or supplement flow measurements, which are relatively complex and expensive, with soil moisture measurements that can be simpler and less resource demanding.
