NBS pRECision cONdition Assessment (NBS-RECON)(2024-2025)
Within the EU-project Co-UDLabs, together with Veljko Prodanovic at University of Belgrade, Urban Water Engineering at Luleå University of Technology has received a grant to test the relationship between plant parameters and the water management performance of urban nature based solutions (NBS).
This will be done as part of Co-UDLabs transnational access to fully monitored NBS research facilities at INSA Lyon: (1) OTHU-SuDS (biofiltration system) and (2) GROOF (green roof), incorporating novel low-cost multi-spectral plant monitoring camera (Plant-O-Meter).
The research will identify plant traits that can be used for NBS condition assessment, triggering maintenance actions. The project team consists of leading urban NBS research institutions from Serbia (UoB), Sweden (LTU), Norway (NTNU), France (INSA Lyon), and company BitGear (developers of Plant-O-Meter).
The project aims to maximize outcomes and dissemination across research and industry, informing further EU innovation and industry implementation within the IoT sector.
