Bio4Energy, 2017-2025*
Wood and Bionanocomposites Group is participating in the Bio4Energy research platform: Biopolymers and Biochemical Conversion Technologies.
On the platform for Bio4Energy Biopolymers and Biochemical Conversion Technologies scientists develop new biocatalysts and bio-based processes designed for efficient conversion of lignocellulose into commodities such as advanced biofuels, "green" chemicals and bio-based materials. Research activities also include using tree cell-wall polymers as raw materials to produce electricity, heat, biofuel and value-added 'co-products' using biorefinery methods, and developing biocomposites using nanotechnology.
The platform leader is Prof. Leif Jönsson (Umeå University, UmU), and the main partners are from UmU Chemistry, LTU Biochemical Process Engineering, and LTU Wood and Bionanocomposites.
