The association depends on retaining its members as we are strong together. It is important for us that you keep your membership up to date to benefit from discounts, events and support the voice of doctoral students at the university!
Become a member or renew your membership
The Doctoral Student Section is a section of the Teknologkåren. The Teknologkåren thus handles all doctoral student memberships. Please note that membership is annual, i.e. you must become a member every year to renew your membership.
Get your membership by:
- Download the Hitract app and create an account (the app can be downloaded here External link.)
- Verify yourself through Ladok or antagning.se
- Find our hitClub by searching for "Teknologkåren" or click on the button
- Tap "join" and follow the instruction
- You are now a member of Teknologkåren
- Browse through the membership options
- Choose the Doktorand membership of your choice.
Get added to the PhD student email list
Most of the communications from both the Doctoral Section and the University (events, newsletters and important announcements) are sent to a global email address to which we do NOT own any rights. To receive important information when you start your doctoral studies, you need to be manually added to the local doctoral mailing list of your institution: ETKS, HLT, SBN, SRT or TVM doctoral students
How do I know if I am on the mailing list?
- Check on your internal ITS Admin page EMPLOYEES > TOOLS > Password, PIN, room (ITS Admin) External link, opens in new window. in which mailing lists you are registered. *requires an LTU account
- If you do not find PhD student mailing lists there: contact your department administrator responsible for your department and ask them to be included in your local PhD student mailing list (see how to find their contact below)

I am a PhD student at <YOUR DIVISION and DEPARTMENT>.
I can see in my ITS-Admin page that I am not a member of the <YOUR DIVISION and DEPARTMENT> PhD student email lists. I am missing out many useful emails and events that are necessary for me to know about especially as I recently started working here. I need to be included in these lists as soon as possible to get information about my PhD studies as well as work conditions.
Could you add me to the local PhD email list as soon as possible? Thank you.

Who is responsible for the email lists?
The local LTU administrator at your department is responsible for manually adding you to the PhD student email list. We cannot do this on their behalf. Find their contact via the internal webpage operational support. The administrative team for your department (ETKS, HLT, SBN, SRT or TVM) is listed there.

Apply or renew your Mecenat card
Mecenat is a nationwide company dedicated to collecting all student discounts to make your life as a student a little easier. As a member, you will get access to national discounts (such as student fare on SJ, SL) when you get your Mecenat card.
Mecenat memberships are usually updated every semester but the PhD membership covers a whole academic year at a time. This difference leads to errors in the first edition and renewal of Mecenat cards for some doctoral students.
If you have problems obtaining or renewing your Mecenat card:
You must manually request and renew your Mecenat card each semester by contacting Mecenat and the Teknologkåren.
How do I get my Mecenat card?
- Make sure you are a member of the Teknologkåren.
- Get the basic Mecenat card:
By sending your "Registration certificate" (see below for the procedure to generate the certificate from Ladok) to Mecenat at kundtjanst@mecenat.com.
*entitles to basic national discounts, also applies to non-members - Get the Teknologkåren Mecenat card:
By sending your "Registration certificate" (see below for the procedure to generate the certificate from Ladok) to the Teknologkåren at kanslist@teknologkaren.se.
*entitles you to full national discounts and official card at LTU (Stuk, etc.) - In a few days, you will receive an electronic version of the card via the Mecenat app External link, opens in new window. (log in with your social security number) or apply each semester for a physical card via Mecenat's "I want a physical Mecenat card External link, opens in new window." page.
You can find the list of all the benefits you are eligible for in their app and on their website.
How do I generate my "Certificate of Registration" from Ladok?
- Go to your Ladok account External link, opens in new window..
- Select "Certificate" from the "Menu" and then click on "Create certificate". Select the type of certificate as "Registration certificate" from the drop-down menu. Then select "All registrations ordered by program", your language and create and download.
Who is responsible for the Mecenat card and discounts?
The Teknologkåren is responsible, we do not have access to this system. Please contact them directly via kanslist@teknologkaren.se to keep all your benefits!
The Teknologkåren is currently working on a solution with their system host to make this update automatic. More information will come once they have resolved it.
