About
Eleni Remi Kofteridi’s primary PhD research focuses on the potential fates, transport, and transformation of organic micropollutants in natural stormwater systems. Despite the clear need, few models exist for predicting micropollutant treatment in stormwater biofilters. By applying chemical process models developed based on laboratory experiments to full-scale systems, she aims to provide new insights into the processes that influence biofilters.
Eleni's academic journey has consistently focused on agricultural engineering and biotechnology, with a particular emphasis on their applications in addressing environmental challenges. She holds an M.Sc. in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. For her master's thesis, she examined the effectiveness of four types of banana fiber adsorbents in removing various wastewater contaminants, combining laboratory experiments with data analysis to assess treatment performance.
