About me
Senior professor, today mainly active with supervision of research and publishing of research.
Teaching
Main teaching areas have been:
Metallic materials; basics about the microstructural influence on the properties of materials.
Heat treatment; different heat treatment methods mainly for optimization of properties for steels and aluminum alloys.
Manufacturing methods; influence of process variables on structure and properties in welding, cold and hot working of metallic materials.
Materials selection; methodology to find the best material for components and products.
Eco-design; tools to reduce the environmental impact by proper selection of materials, choice of processing methods and analysis of the life cycle of components and products.
Surface engineering; the influence of surface microstructure on material properties as wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Research
My research has been devoted towards:
Powder metallurgy; joining of porous parts, infiltration in metal- ceramic systems.
Modification of metallic surfaces; quenching and tempering, induction hardening, nitriding, etc.
High performance steels; austempered steels, quenching and partitioning steels, multi-phase steels, etc.
Manufacturing methods; minimizing of defects in continuous casted steels, optimizing of microstructures through heat treatment methods, optimizing of microstructures in welded structures, etc.
