About me:
Science is both my passion and the lens through which I explore how to shape a better built environment and a more resilient society across time and generations. Guided by this passion, my work as a researcher is driven by a commitment to translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions and real social impact.
I bring over 20 years of professional experience in supervising and inspecting public works and construction projects. In addition, I have extensive experience teaching engineering courses at the university level, supervising and co-supervising student projects, and conducting research on innovative materials and systems applied to civil engineering.
Prior to joining LTU in January 2026, I earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by a master’s degree in urban infrastructure systems and a Ph.D. in technology in the field of materials science.
Beyond science, I am also passionate about exploring new places, cultures, traditions, and cuisines.
Research interest:
My research focuses on the development and enhancement of innovative technologies aimed at advancing science and engineering in the field of civil construction, with particular emphasis on the development of smart concrete structures, including self-sensing and multifunctional composites. I am committed to integrating practical experience, teaching, and research to promote innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions for the built environment.
My objectives are to:
- Advance and optimize self-sensing techniques integrated into structural strengthening systems.
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance structural durability and extend service life.
- Design strategies to reduce raw material consumption and promote the sustainable use of resources.
- Contribute to society through the development of new concepts, technologies, and scientific knowledge.
- Educate, mentor, and inspire the next generation of civil engineers.
Professional expertise:
- Experimental assessment and characterization of materials, composites, and structural systems.
- Development of new approaches for structural health monitoring techniques.
- Supervision and management of construction and infrastructure projects.
- Leadership roles within professional engineering regulatory councils and technical committees.
- Experimental research using advanced techniques, including microstructural, electrical, and piezoresistive methods.
- Teaching, mentoring, and supervising students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
