About
Lina Otte's research work focuses on the impact of stormwater infiltration on groundwater quality. Her work aims to provide new knowledge on types and magnitudes of risks associated with infiltration of stormwater to groundwater and to identify when, where and how stormwater runoff should be managed as a resource to ensure the long-term protection of groundwater. During her PhD, she investigates the occurrence and environmental risks of contaminants in groundwater bodies originating from stormwater infiltration while including various factors such as rainfall events of differing magnitude, type of infiltration system and the role of soil type and depth.
Lina Otte was hired as a PhD student in Urban Water Engineering at LTU in May 2024. She holds an B.Sc degree in Environmental Sciences from University Oldenburg in Germany and furthered her education with an M.Sc. in Water Science from a cooperative master's programm between the University of Münster and the University of Applied Sciences in Germany. For her external master's thesis at LTU, she investigated the performance of various Blue-Green Infrastructure scenarios for stormwater treatmeant using the hydrodynamic model SWMM.
