Luisa Merlo

About me

I am a PhD student at Luleå University of Technology, where I began my doctoral studies in November 2023. With a background in architecture and urban planning, I completed my master’s degree in Sustainable Design from the Politecnico di Torino.

My PhD research is part of the PRECISE research school and focuses on understanding the needs and preferences of diverse pedestrian groups concerning their urban environments. By exploring these dynamics, the aim is to identify strategies for improving urban spaces to encourage greater pedestrian activity. The overall objective of my research is to promote physical activity and its associated health benefits while contributing to the creation of vibrant, livable, and inclusive cities.
