About me
Lukas is, since May 2024, a PhD Student in the Thermochemical Energy Conversion group. He holds a diploma (B.Sc. & M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering in the field of Plant Technology at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
His research concentrates on the transformation process to environmentally friendly carbon black (CB) through fundamental studies. To achieve this, it is crucial to understand how to control the oxidation of carbon nanoparticles (CNP). Advanced microscope technology and thermal analysis will be used to monitor oxidation in real time and assess the effects of metals and ash-forming elements, for example.
The aim is to convert the fossil-based production of one of the world's 20 most produced chemicals, carbon black, to a more sustainable, environmentally friendly process.
