About Me
My name is Mari Modig, a licensed physiotherapist since 2015 with specialist expertise in Primary Health Care. I have clinical experience from municipal healthcare, hospitals, and primary care. I completed both my undergraduate and master's education at Umeå University. My master's thesis has been published in a scientific journal, titled "Perceptions of Home Telemonitoring Use Among Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Qualitative Study."
Since February 2024, I have been a doctoral student (80%) in the "Nära vård" research school. I am employed by Region Norrbotten and work clinically 20% of the time at the Physiotherapy Unit at Sunderby Hospital.
Research Project – Health Intervention in Norrbotten Trial (HINT):
Cardiovascular health among residents in Norrbotten is the poorest in Sweden. The majority of disease onset is due to modifiable lifestyle factors. Therefore, we need to find new approaches to work preventively against cardiovascular disease. The research project aims to identify risk groups of individuals showing a negative health trend and to design and evaluate an intervention for this target group.
My main supervisor is Anna-Karin Lindqvist. Co-supervisors are Anna Bengtsson and Albin Dahlin-Almevall.
