About Arvidsjaur
Arvidsjaur - The Givmilda Lake and Lapland's Hidden Pearl
Arvidsjaur - a name with roots in the Ume Sami language, where árvies means "generous" and jávrrie means "lake". Together, the meaning becomes "the bountiful lake", a fitting description for this place with its rich fishing waters and abundant nature.
Sweden's most charming municipality, located in the heart of Lapland, Norrbotten County, invites you to experience everything from sparkling starry skies and magical northern lights to the enchanting midnight sun. With its 6,070 inhabitants, Arvidsjaur offers a quiet and safe place where nature is always close. Here you are embraced by magnificent landscapes with crystal clear lakes, snow-capped mountain peaks and deep forests - a place reminiscent of Narnia.
Those who have chosen to move here have fallen for Arvidsjaur's unique nature, friendly people and the high quality of life that characterizes everyday life here. It's a place where you can balance work and leisure, and where the opportunity to explore the unspoiled nature is just around the corner.
Welcome to international Arvidsjaur!
Arvidsjaur offers a vibrant and growing labor market that matches all kinds of qualifications, experiences and lifestyles. We prioritize a welcoming work environment where private life and work go hand in hand. The wood cluster is particularly strong, with a focus on wood processing, from sawmills and joineries to biofuel production.
A new, exciting development is the construction of a new regiment in Arvidsjaur. This investment will strengthen both the local community and Sweden's defence capabilities, while creating more jobs and new opportunities for residents. The regiment will play a central role in both national and international defence cooperation, and its presence will contribute to further growth and development in the region.
Testing activities in the area are a key driver of the economy, with an annual turnover of around SEK 1 billion.
