Change in e-mail service for students
On the 24th of february, we switched e-mail service provider for your e-mail.
Going from Gmail to Microsoft 365
At 20:00 the 24th of february we started creating mailboxes in Microsoft 365 for all students. Incoming emails were redirected to the new mailbox only after your mailbox had been created. This means that as long as a new mailbox had not been created for you, your emails were delivered to Gmail. The mailbox creation was completed early morning on the 25th of february.
All students will retain their email addresses, but emails will be delivered to Microsoft 365 instead of Gmail.
Emails received before the transition will not be moved automatically but will be accessible via Gmail for an extended transition period. You will be able to send individual emails or move all emails from Gmail to the new mailbox. Guides to facilitate the move will be published here.
Automatic email forwarding will not be available after the move, so if you have forwarding set up today, it will cease to function after the transition.

Q & A
To create a cohesive environment with better collaboration opportunities and to eventually phase out the remaining Google services.
No, your e-mail address will remain the same.
Your old emails will remain in Gmail during an extended transition period.
Yes, you will have the option to move emails to your new mailbox yourself.
By not allowing automatic email forwarding, we gain control over the entire email message flow to and from our students. We can be confident that messages reach our students mailboxes, and we can also be sure that any replies from students reach us as well. It can also be difficult to know who is responding to an email if it comes from an address not associated with the university.
Google Calendar, Drive, Photos and other services are not affected during 2025, shutdown of these services are planned for 2026 at the earliest.
