Speaking in front of others
It is very common to have a fear of speaking in or in front of a group. Speech anxiety means that students cannot do themselves justice in their study work.
Do you feel very uncomfortable speaking in front of groups? This may mean that you stress yourself out well in advance, start worrying and thinking about how to avoid doing the upcoming task, and feel that too much of your energy is spent thinking about your upcoming presentation. If you recognise yourself in the above and feel that this hinders you in your everyday life and limits you in your studies, we want to say first and foremost: You are not alone. What we describe above is called speech anxiety and many students feel this way and there is help available.
The course Dare to speak is aimed at you who are a student at LTU and want to deal with your speech anxiety. In the dare to speak courses, you will learn more about what speech anxiety is, train yourself to meet and explore the discomfort in the form of step-by-step exercises and get strategies and tools to deal with your speech anxiety.
Create health profile
Take care of your health and book a health profile with a health counsellor and find out about your lifestyle and what you can do to improve your health.
A healthy lifestyle contributes to more meaningful leisure time and a healthier student life. A health profile is designed to motivate and provide insight into lifestyle changes.
This is included:
Questions about lifestyle and health
Conversations focusing on current situation and change
A personal health account where you can see your results.
For those who are in Luleå, there is the opportunity to meet physically. This includes checking your weight, blood pressure and a fitness test on a bicycle (no mass test, but you will be a little out of breath and a little warm).
To book an appointment for a Health Profile, email halsovagledare@ltu.se.
Cross-country skiing school
For those who have rarely or never stood on cross-country skis and want to learn the basics to be able to start skiing. Training clothes are not necessary, but it is good to have clothes that you can move freely in. You bring your own skiing equipment. If you do not have your own, borrow from a friend or from Fritidsbanken External link. located at Porsöhallen.
We are located on the ski trails at Heden, about 50 metres from the meeting point. We start when the snow has arrived.
For current dates, see the calendar at the top of the page.
Procrastination group
This course will only be given in Swedish.
Lecture on alcohol habits and student life
This is a lecture about student life in relation to alcohol habits. We'll cover things like how alcohol affects you, what is "moderate" drinking, how do I get comfortable in situations where the norm is to drink but I want to be sober, and what can I do if I'm worried about myself or someone else's drinking habits?
There will be time for questions and discussion.
For current dates, see the calendar at the top of the page.
Active.now (Aktiv.nu)
Take control of your health and performance.
For three weeks you have the chance to get active for your health and performance. You get the tools and choose how you want to use them, to have a good study time and free time.
Topics you will learn more about are: active lifestyle, food smarts and rest for body and mind.
For current dates, see the calendar at the top of the page.
September challenge with Student Health - Run/Walk streak
Start the semester with a challenge where you will run for a short time every day for 21 days, a so-called run streak.
Takes place throughout September and registration opens on 14 August.
We do it because it's fun and because we feel good about movement. If you complete the challenge and can describe how the challenge affects your study time, you can win a prize.
Become a student mentor
The assignment involves providing support to a student with disabilities in terms of structure and planning of studies.
The working hours are approximately 1-3 hours/week.
Hourly fee is paid.
