Information for those who participate in a study in a student project
Hello! We are so happy that you have chosen or are considering participating in a study in a student project here at Luleå University of Technology. In addition to the information you have received in the information letter about the study, you can read more about how your data is processed on this page.
If you have questions about the processing of personal data, you can contact someone responsible for the study or the university's data protection officer directly via dataskydd@ltu.se.
Data collection, storage and management
The data collected will be stored locally on the University's servers.
As for any recordings and transcriptions, these will usually be done in Teams, which means they're handled by Microsoft. The same applies to survey collection, which takes place via the Microsoft forms tool.
How the data are presented
Students never give your name or other directly identifying information in their essay, without asking you first. If you are quoted by name, you will have to approve the quote before publication.
The essay will be published in Diva and the essay will become a public document as soon as it is submitted for grading.
Legal basis
The legal basis for the processing of personal data in student projects is the public interest.
When it comes to the collection of sensitive personal data, the basis is explicit consent. If the assessment is that it is such data, you will be required to sign a separate written consent.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the responsible students, the supervisor or the university.
Rights and complaints
As a participant, you have certain rights, such as the opportunity to access the information about you that is handled in the study free of charge, and if necessary, to have any errors corrected. You can also request that data about you be deleted and that the processing of your personal data be restricted. Contact the person responsible for the study if you have an actual question about your rights in that study.
You can read more about your rights on the university's website.
If you have any questions, concerns or complaints about the processing of personal data, you can also contact the University's Data Protection Officer via dataskydd@ltu.se.
In the event of a complaint about the processing of personal data, you can also turn to The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
If you choose to cancel your participation
If you no longer wish to participate in the study, we will cease collecting data from you immediately. In some cases, the university will not be able to delete the data that has already been collected due to requirements in legislation. The data may also be included in results that have already been created and where your answers cannot be deleted because the data can no longer be linked to you. More detailed information will be provided in the event of a current cancellation.
