Energy storage to enable the resilient electrified society
The Interreg Aurora region, uniquely positioned in the green transition, faces challenges and opportunities in renewable energy adoption. Critical areas such as grid stability, renewable adoption and electric vehicle infrastructure highlight the need for resilient solutions. Energy storage emerges as one piece to ensure reliability and enabling decentralization. The project overall objective is to develop and implement sustainable energy solutions in the IA region. This is done by developing multi-energy and storage hybrid systems for identified needs including business opportunities, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and resilient energy infrastructure. The project start off with a work package performing in-depth investigation of the needs for energy storage solutions in the IA region and at the same time form an overview of the technical and supportive actors and networks that are available for the implementation of energy storage solutions. Also, quite some efforts goes into stakeholders engagement in WP1. Then, based on WP1, the project develop a decision model for technology selection for the purpose of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and well as a site assessment for possible energy infrastructure needs and possibilities. In the following two work packages, applied research is performed wrt the identified needs and possibilities to advance the state of the art of multi-energy and storage hybrid systems within the Interreg Aurora region. All with the goal to develop and implement sustainable energy solutions in the IA region.
