Digital Games Supporting Young People's Mental Health Recovery in the Nordic Arctic
For mental health services to promote young people's recovery, a youth-friendly practice needs to be established, building on flexibility, therapeutic alliances, trust, and approaches that promote personal recovery. Digital games, especially serious games have been used in different health settings and could be a good and accessible option in mental health services.
The project aims to describe experiences of using digital gaming to support mental health and personal recovery from the perspective of young people in Northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland experiencing mental health challenges. The project has received funding from The Arctic Six partnership. The research group involves senior researchers and doctoral students from four of the Arctic Six universities (LTU, Umeå University, Oulu University, UiT The Arctic University of Norway) bringing together individuals with research experience and expertise in mental health recovery and digital well-being.
