Nordea's Norrlandsstiftelse travel grant 2013

In 1999 Nordeas Norrlandsstiftelse established an annual travel grant of SEK 50,000 for graduate students at LTU in Skellefteå. The travel grant is to be used for study / research outside Sweden and the aim is to promote scientific research in order to develop entrepreneurship in our region.

The following graduate students were awarded:

Min Niu, PhD student Wood Products Engineering, LTU in Skellefteå

Travel grant: 15 000 kronor
Travel grant to visit Wood and Civil Engineering of Bern University in Switzerland.
The purpose of the trip is to study the interaction mechanisms to improve ultralow density fiberboards. The region’s companies will benefit from the research that can create an environmental friendly building insulation material with a lower cost and satisfactory properties.

Ann Axelsson, PhD student, Wood technology, LTU in Skellefteå

Travel grant: 15 000 kronor
Travel grant to participate in ”International Conference on Sustainable Design and Manufacturing” in Cardiff, Great Britain in April 2013. The aim is to take part in international research in reduced raw material utilization and to build international contacts.
 

Tommy Vikberg, PhD Student, Wood Physics, LTU in Skellefteå

Travel grant: SEK 20 000
Travel grant in order to conduct measurements with the micro-tomograph located at SP in Copenhagen. Besides valuable measurements it also provides network for future research that will benefit companies in our region.
