Wood Technology hosted an international wood conference

Published: 27 May 2014

Division of Wood Science and Engineering with Professor Dick Sandberg in the front, has just completed an appreciated wood conference at LTU in Skellefteå. Scientists and engineers in the field of mechanical and heat-treated wood came from all over the world to discuss the latest on the subject.

The participating researchers for instance discussed the heating of wood. Using heat and water allows for the wood to be bent.

– More research is needed on the heat treatment of wood because there are still problems with the method. To scale up the wood treatment from a lab environment to industrial production also poses a challenge, says Dick Sandberg, professor at Wood Technology at Luleå University of Technology.

During the three days of the conference there were oral presentations, lab demonstrations and poster presentations . The conference was organized within the framework of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, COST, which is a European cooperation in the field of scientific and technological research. The purpose is to link together research between EU countries.
