The Board of the University

The Board of the University is the University’s highest decision-making authority. The Board makes decisions on important matters relating to the University’s organisation, the Annual Reports, the University’s budget, forms of admission, forms of employment etc.

Eva Nordmark, Chairman
Chairman TCO

Eva Nordmark is TCOs Chairman since May 2011. Previously she was chairman of SKTF for over six years. She has also been director of SKTF center in Lulea while she was chair of the TCO Council of Norrbotten

Jan-Ove Östensen
CEO of Volvo Technology

Jan-Ove Östensen is CEO at Volvo Technology. In 1989, he graduated with a MSc in Mechanical engineering at Luleå University of Technology, where he after graduation continued his career as a PhD at the department of Machine Elements. After his dissertation Jan-Ove was recruited to Volvo.

Mikael Ramström
Director - External Partners, Atlas Copco

Mikael Ramström is responsible for external collaboration at Atlas Copco Rock Drills AB in Örebro. In 1992, Mikael graduated as a civil engineer electronics at Chalmers. Since then he has worked both in space industry at RUAG Space in Gothenburg (former Saab Ericsson Space) and in mining industry for Atlas Copco in Örebro. Since 2013, Mikael is a member of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials Group in Brussels, and chairman of EIT RawMaterial's co-location node in Luleå. Mikael is also a member of the board of Nordic Rock Tech Center AB in Luleå.

Åsa Sundqvist
Director, LKAB

 
Åsa Sundqvist has been active in LKAB since 2000 and has held various positions in R & D, projects and production. Åsa has been a director of LKAB in charge of Technology and Process Development since January 2015. Åsa holds a MSc in Civil Engineering from Luleå University of Technology and Technology Licentiate and Technology Doctorate in Water Technology.

Birgitta Vallgårda
Professor, theatrical production, Lund University

Birgitta Vallgårda is Professor in Stage Performance at Teaterhögskolan, Lund University and has among other things worked as an educator at other Nordic theater universities. She grew up at Persön outside Luleå.

Johan Sterte
Vice-Chancellor, Luleå University of Technology

Johan Sterte is Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology. He has a MSc a degree from Chalmers. Later he built up the MSc program in chemical engineering at Luleå University of Technology where he is a Professor of Chemical technology. Johan  was also vice-rector at the university for a few years. In 2003, he left to become Vice-Chancellor at Växjö University and in 2009, he returned to Luleå an started as Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.
