Andrew won Duncan Dowson’s Prize
Andrew Spencer, PhD-student at Machine Elements, won the prestigious Dowson Prize at this year’s Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology. The prize was launched 2008 in honour of the lifetime achievements of Professor Duncan Dowson, Leeds University, and to inspire and reward outstanding young tribologists. Professor Dowson, 82 years old, is still active and Andrew received the prize from his hands. The prize cheque on 900 GBP was sponsored by Shell Global Solutions (UK).
The paper Andrew presented at the conference has the title “A semi-deterministic texture-roughness model of the piston ring to cylinder liner
contact”
