- When I, I heard this, I was first very surprised. I had no idea that I was nominated. But of course I'm really happy! It's an incredible honor to be awarded the Education Sciences price of Royal Skyttean Society - great fun, says Eva Alerby.
Was appointed professor in 2007
Eva Alerby took her doctorate in 1998 in Education at Luleå University of Technology with the thesis To catch an idea: a phenomenological study of children and young people thinking about the environment. She was accepted as Associate Professor of Education in 2003, and was appointed Professor and Head of Department in 2007. She is also a visiting professor at the University of Tromsö. That she is now getting the education scientific price for 2015 Eva Alerby sees as a great honor and an incentive for future research.
- To be noticed and rewarded for the work and the research I conduct in the educational field means a lot to me, both as a researcher and as a private person.
Eva Alerby will receive the prize diploma at Luleå University of technology at a ceremony in autumn.

"As a professor of education Alerby has demonstrated in her research the versatility and great commitment on issues of diverse kind in the field of educational science. The phenomenological approach has been a guiding principle in her research. She has also shown interest in the practical implications of research. Commitment to ethical issues is also reflected in her membership in the ethics review board in northern Sweden. She has an exceptional ability to concretization and deepening of the subject-specific issues. Her research is well known and appreciated both nationally and internationally. "
