Grants embodying Asia Dreams

For the second year shared Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation, handed out scholarships to students at Luleå University of Technology, for studies / training in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) or in other countries with rapid economic growth.

Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai, become destinations during fallsemester 2015 for the five, very excited, grantees, at Luleå University of Technology, who on May 26 received scholarships from the industrialist Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation. Diplomas, summer bouquets and above all financial contributions for a semester of study or internship in Asia, were awarded during pleasant circumstances, from the Deputy vice-chancellor Birgitta Bergvall Kåreborn, Chairman of the Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation.

The fellows were Anna Liljestrand, Master Programme in Industrial and Management Engineering who travel to Singapore, Sara Larsson, Master Programme in Industrial and Management Engineering, Singapore, Jonathan Lönnefjord, Master Programme in Industrial and Management Engineering, Hong Kong, Robert Johansson, Master Programme in Industrial and Management Engineering, Hong Kong and Daniel Nilsson, Master Programme in Space Engineering, goes to Shanghai.

- Asian culture is very interesting, I would love to work in that part of the world, said Sara Larsson, who will share accommodation in Singapore, on Campus with fellow Anna Liljestrand and some students from other countries.

Opportunity for advancement

Rune Andersson is the donor and the settlers of Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation, established in conjunction with Luleå University of Technology, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011, and was awarded for the first time in 2014.

Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation has been established to provide students at Luleå University of Technology, the opportunity to improve themselves in the BRIC countries and other countries with rapid economic development. The idea is to give the students an opportunity to stay a long time in another culture to better understand it, enrich themselves, build networks and maybe learn the language a bit. In the longer term, it is thought that this will strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry.

Rune Andersson is the donor and the settlers of Rune Andersson Jubilee Foundation, established in conjunction with Luleå University of Technology, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011.
 
Rune Andersson was the university's first administrative director and also the first employee at Luleå University of Technology was established in 1971. He is one of Sweden's most famous industrialists and leads today the successful company group Mellby Gard which owns Smart Eyes.
