Published: 18 May 2015

Nils Jansson at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering has been granted 105 500 SEK to organize an international workshop in Aggeneys, together with the geologists from the Lulea University of Technology, Boliden Mineral, Zinkgruvan Mining, Lovisagruvan, Stellenbosch University and the Black Mountain Mining.

–  The theme is stratiform sulphide ores in the Aggeneys area, South Africa, and Bergslagen, Sweden. From Luleå University of Technology also Rodney Allen and Tobias Kampmann from the Division of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering will participate on the trip, which also include several visits to different zinc mines in South Africa and Namibia, says Nils Jansson, Lecturer at Luleå University of Technology.

The research in ore geology is primarily conducted in order to understand ore forming processes and to better understand where and how ores occur in the Swedish bedrock.

The Knutberg Foundation - Rock mill Innovation

The Knutberg Foundation can be traced back to the mid 1700s when the first of the donations that make up the foundation because made. There were mountain men in Nora who donated a homestead, Knutberg, which he would have both as a home and an office. In 1973, the Foundation sold the property. It is managed revenue from those sales which now constitute the bulk of The Knutberg Foundation's capital.
