"Career Center at Luleå University of Technology is an example of success when it comes to linking employers and students. We have visited the Career Center at Luleå University of Technology and became very inspired by their work. Having access to a well-functioning career center and various type of work preparatory activities is something that our members demand. These activities have been reduced in many other universities, but preparatory activities are very important for students to gain work-related experience," says Kristin Öster, Saco Student Council President.
Career Center at Luleå University of Technology, a Swedish company and the University of Gothenburg have been invited to the seminar as good examples to share their way of working with matching and work-related activities for students. Jennie Hägg Wilhemsson, Director of Career Center, will represent Luleå University of Technology in the parliament. Mia Oldenburg, Director of Student Services at Luleå University of Technology will also attend.
"It feels very exciting to be chosen to speak. We have a very wide range of activites at our Career Center at Luleå University of Technology which increase the chances that we will be able to offer each student something that suits their needs in terms of work-related activites," says Jennie Hägg Wilhemsson.
She has 7 to 10 minutes to speak in the parliament, and will focus on the Mentorship Programme (between students and mentors in workplaces), Competence Contracts (more formalized cooperation between programmes and business), External Board (capturing the skills that companies in the region calls for), Branding You (how students highlight their skills when they enter the labour market).
