Published: 27 May 2016

Petter Sundkvist, conductor and professor of musical arts at Luleå University of Technology was recently elected to the Board of the Royal Academy of Music.

– As with all positions of trust it feels like a responsibility and also very challenging. It makes me particularly proud that it is the Academy members - people who all excelled in the national and international music scene - who voted me in, says Petter Sundkvist.

Want to contribute knowledge and insight

Petter Sundkvist is a distinguished conductor and active  at the Academy of Music in Piteå. In May 2015 he was appointed member of the Academy and now he takes the step into the board.

– Royal Academy of Music is one of the most important consultative bodies in the Swedish music scene. The Academy's voice carries weight in all from artistic research and training to the professional as well as amateur music scene. I hope to contribute with the knowledge and insight I gained over the years in both the music scene and universities, says Petter Sundkvist.

Three people working at the Academy of Music in Piteå are now represented in the Royal Academy of Music: Erik Westberg (2008), professor of choral conducting, Jan Sandström, professor of composition and composers, as well as Petter Sundkvist.
