The new leadership for the university consists of Cathrine Norberg, deputy Vice-Chancellor Pär Weihed and Vice-Chancellor Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn.
– Cathrine Norberg has broad and long experience of leadership assignments within the academia and a strong foundation in the scientific community, says Vice-Chancellor Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, adding:
– Cathrine Norberg has a strong commitment to the development of our education and research. She has long experience of interdisciplinary collaborations and has a great interest in gender and gender equality, both in her research and as a leader. With her leadership, experiences and great commitment, she will contribute to the university's future development.
Cathrine Norberg has been at Luleå University since 1994. Since 2013 she is the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
– I am of course very pleased to have been given the confidence to work in close cooperation with the vice-chancellor, the pro vice-chancellor and other employees and students for a positive development of Luleå University of Technology. I see the benefit of working across subjects and faculty boundaries, and want us to continue doing so. We need to take advantage of what makes us unique in terms competence and possibilities compared to other universities. I also want to contribute to an open and respectful culture, characterized by equality at all levels and in all areas of activity, says Cathrine Norberg.
