Published: 12 September 2018

Luleå University of Technology can offer students to study on location in Åre, thanks to a collaboration with Campus Åre Learning Center and business hub House Be. The first course starts already in January 2019.

The first educations offered in Åre are bachelor’s level courses web development I and II, starting in January 2019 and April 2019 respectively.

– As a nationally recruiting university, it is gratifying that we now can offer courses on location in yet another dynamic city. I am convinced that Luleå University of Technology and Åre will have a rewarding cooperation, says Birgitta Bergvall-Kåreborn, Vice-Chancellor at Luleå University of Technology.

Welcome new students

Campus Åre Learning Center is located at the foot of mountain Åreskutan, close to businesses, skiing and outdoor activities.

– It's great for us to get university educations on location in Åre. We see a great potential in the growing IT business in Åre and are convinced that this will further lay the foundation for a future industry in Åre Municipality. We are also very pleased to welcome a number of new students to Åre. We hope to keep them here for many years, says Åre Municipality’s Martin Söderström.

Part of the cooperation in Åre is business hub House Be, that opened its doors in 2017 to assemble the city’s growing IT and startup industry. Today, House Be has over 100 affiliated companies.

– More and more people are looking for creative and inspiring environments to work from and Åre can offer that. House Be is growing fast, and that Luleå University of Technology chooses to establish in Åre is very positive, especially for investing companies that are looking for employees, says Andreas Eriksson, one of the founders of House Be.
